DEAR FRIENDS,
My personal experience with Pediatric Cancer Foundation
began in December 2006, when I was diagnosed with Acute
Lymphocytic Leukemia. I was 17 years old and a senior in high
school at the time. I underwent 2 ½ years of treatment at the
Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital at Westchester Medical Center.
Although physically and emotionally undergoing treatment for
Leukemia has been the hardest task I have ever dealt with, I am
happy to say that with the help of my doctors, nurses, family,
and friends, I am now a healthy college student on the path to
becoming an orthodontist. I am forever thankful for Pediatric
Cancer Foundation. With their work and support, I am able to
call myself a cancer survivor.
It is with great appreciation that I invite you and your family and
friends to join me on Sunday, April 10, 2011, Riverside Park,
NYC, for Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s 17th Annual Walkathon.
With the support of Pediatric Cancer Foundation and all the
members who are a part of it, we are on a road to helping many
children and families who are diagnosed with cancer. Hope is the
belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances
in one’s life. With hope and drive, we are on the way to finding a
cure. So now, let us walk together for a cure as we... hold the hand
of a child.
Thank you,

Amanda Luiso
